Private legal-writing coaching • 2 founding places

Stop guessing what your legal analysis is supposed to do.

Founding-student program fee: $997 • No grade guarantees • Educational coaching only

The problem beneath the problem

You probably do not need more information. You need a system for using what you already know.

Legal writing can feel like five tasks happening at once: spotting issues, recalling rules, selecting facts, making inferences, and organizing an answer under time pressure.

This program slows that process down, makes it visible, and then rebuilds it into a method you can repeat when the clock is running.

01

See the architecture

Understand what each part of IRAC is doing and why.

02

Make analysis visible

Connect a specific rule to specific facts and explain the link.

03

Write under pressure

Practice a repeatable workflow for timed and untimed work.

What the intensive includes

Eight weeks of focused, private work on your legal-writing process.

The work begins with your actual starting point and ends with a practical system you can keep using after the program.

Week 1

Diagnostic + strategy session

Intake, review of one permitted writing sample, a diagnostic scorecard, and a 90-minute private session to identify the highest-leverage improvements.

Weeks 2–7

Six weekly coaching sessions

Sixty minutes each week devoted to rule structure, fact use, inference, organization, counteranalysis, and timed execution.

Throughout

Practice, feedback, and a reusable workflow

Up to four authorized practice submissions, targeted timed drills, a personalized writing framework, and limited between-session support.

Week 8

Final review + 30-day plan

Compare your starting point with your current work, identify remaining constraints, and leave with a realistic continuation plan.

Who this is for

A focused program for a specific kind of student.

This may fit if you…

  • Are a 1L or FYLSX student with an assessment in 2–4 months.
  • Know the vocabulary of IRAC but struggle to execute it.
  • Want direct feedback and are willing to revise and practice.
  • Need structure without being handed work that is not yours.

This is not a fit if you…

  • Want someone to write or rewrite graded work for submission.
  • Need legal advice or representation.
  • Want a guaranteed grade, score, or academic outcome.
  • Cannot commit consistent time to practice between sessions.
James Mulcahy, IRAC Mastery Lab coach

Your coach

Built by someone who had to make legal reasoning click.

James Mulcahy is a law student, legal-writing tutor, and Master of Legal Studies graduate. IRAC became useful to him when it stopped being a rigid formula and became a way to reduce anxiety, organize dense material, and show the reasoning between rules and results. The IRAC Mastery Lab teaches that process, not a set of magic words.

Before you apply

Clear boundaries. Serious work.

Is this a course or tutoring?

It is a private coaching intensive. The sequence is structured, but sessions and practice target your particular writing constraints.

Can we use my assignments?

Only when your school or instructor permits outside tutoring and feedback. Otherwise, we use practice hypotheticals or completed work for reflective learning.

What happens after I request a conversation?

You will answer a few fit questions, then we will discuss your assessment timeline, goals, workload, and whether the program is appropriate.

Is enrollment automatic?

No. The founding cohort is limited to two students so the work can remain rigorous and individualized.
